5 checks
Most likely cause
Water inlet valve failed, letting water keep coming in
The 5 free checks
Start at the top. Unplug the machine first.
- 01
Cancel the current cycle and see whether the dishwasher drains on its own.
- 02
If it does not drain after cancelling, work through the C3 (won't drain) checks instead.
- 03
If it does drain after cancelling, check for an item trapped under the overfill float.
- 04
Unplug the dishwasher and inspect the overfill float switch itself for damage.
- 05
Check the water pressure to the dishwasher — high pressure is the one cause here that is not a failed part.
What causes it
Listed most likely first.
| Cause | How often | DIY |
|---|---|---|
| Water inlet valve failed, letting water keep coming in | Most common | Call a pro |
| Water pressure to the unit too high | Common | Yes |
| Overfill float switch stuck, or an item trapped under it | — | Yes |
If none of that fixed it
If the pressure is normal, the inlet valve is the stated suspect and needs replacing.
